Digital eCMID AVI card is launched

Carrying your eCMID AVI card has just gotten easier as it’s now possible to download your card onto your phone in both iOS and Android formats, following pioneering work by IIMS.

The International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) will not be automatically issuing physical AVI photo ID cards from now on. Instead, we have launched a digital card that eCMID AVIs can access via their phones.

IIMS developed this new digital card as a way to lower its environmental impact and reduce unnecessary plastic waste.

From now on, when renewing Accredited Vessel Inspector status, AVIs will receive an email just once from PassKit with a link to download their new card to their device. (Remember to check your spam folder if you don’t receive an email from no-reply@passkit.io) when your renewal has been paid for.

And don’t worry, your photo ID card will be automatically updated in your device’s wallet once you renew, revalidate, or pay for your accreditation each year. You will need to do nothing. However, if you still feel you need a physical card, you can still ask for one to be sent to you.

If your accreditation is up for Annual Renewal or a Five-Year Revalidation and you have a question about our new digital AVI card, please email msainfo@iims.org.uk
